Santa smoking and the impact for kids with parents that smoke.

Posted by pamela mccoll on Friday, October 26, 2012,
Dear Santa,

I would like three things for Christmas. The first thing I would like the most is for my dad to stop smoking. He wastes money on cigarettes. Now he does not even spend time with us. It can also hurt his lungs.

The second thing I would like is some perfume. It is called “so perfect”. You can get it at Macy’s in the mall for $30.00.

The third thing I want for Christmas is new earrings. They look like reindeer. You can get them at Walmart for $5.99.

The Use of Language to Normalize and Legitimize the tobacco epidemic

Posted by pamela mccoll on Friday, October 26, 2012,
“Neglecting to discuss the industry’s role as the disease
vector in the tobacco epidemic is like refusing to discuss
the role of mosquitoes in a malaria epidemic or rats
in an outbreak of bubonic plague. From a public health
perspective, it is imperative to go to the source
of the problem.”
Dr.Rob Cushman,MD, FRCPC
Medical Officer of Health,Ottawa

Anti - is a word that the tobacco industry relishes as it links their critics with prohibitionists.
Pro a Smoke free generation.

Clement C. Moore writes: I wrote this for my children, it was never meant to be published.

Posted by pamela mccoll on Wednesday, October 10, 2012,
The poem was printed one year after it was written and it appeared anonymously. It was not until years later that Moore
laid claim to it when he included it in an anthology of other work - all extremely different than the sentimental style of
Twas. Some scholars seriously doubt Moore wrote the poem. Many believe it was Henry Livingston's hand and that
he is the true poet of Christmas Eve.

I applaud you for making the edit to a classic poem by C. C.
Moore. As a Santa that has worked in many venues around the U.S. over the

Santa and the need for him to be a good example for all Children. When
I started reading the great poem to children many times throughout the year, I have
purposefully edited the line about the pipe out of my reading. On occasion I have receive...

See the ad at http://smokefreemovies.ucsf.edu/ourads/ad_sfm89.htm

One in a series, this Smoke Free Movies advertisement first ran on October 3, 2012, in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
