In a google alert I discovered that the nicotine pushers are using the media hype of this story to push nicotine delivery devices. They issued a media release that was picked up by at least one paper. " Santa smoking removed from iconic poem after decades, changed to protect children. Leave Santa alone, there are better ways to quit. Do you think history should be changed to protect children ? " Leave Santa Alone.

On May 31st. 2012 Santa Claus - without doubt the most influential "character" for young impressionable young readers quits smoking his pipe.

On September 4th. 2012 the most famous poem in the English language is published less the depiction and reference to Santa engaging in smoking his pipe in the middle of the Moore family's living room. We were going to launch the book on May 31st. 2012 in conjunction with the World Health Organizations No Tobacco Day but we have now changed the date of release to September 4th. so that it will be included in holiday books for children.
